C'VILLE 4.0

Chak De C'ville is a non-profit contracted independent organization (CIO) at the University of Virginia dedicated to promoting awareness of South Asian culture through dance.

Every year, we bring intercollegiate teams from across the country to Charlottesville for a single night of competition spanning Bollywood Fusion and Indian Classical dance — sharing traditions, storytelling, and choreography with the UVA community and beyond. Between judged sets, UVA organizations take the stage for exhibition performances, and the whole show is open to the public.

What started as Chak De C'ville 1.0 has grown each year — 4.0 is our biggest push yet toward a nationally recognized competition that gives talented collegiate dancers a real platform.

Every year, Chak De C'ville donates its remaining proceeds — everything left over after covering the cost of the show — to SAMHIN.

SAMHIN (the South Asian Mental Health Initiative & Network) works to decrease the stigma and shame around mental illness and connect South Asian Americans with culturally competent care. They serve a community of over 5 million people with roots in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and the Maldives — through free support groups, a helpline, a provider directory, and community education.
